Complete Photo Distraction!

OK, I was supposed to be exploring Flickr but got distracted. Downloaded photos from my camera onto my computer, then onto Picasa, and then clicked on Blog This. But I guess it's all learning, right?

Having trouble staying focused

OK, I can see it is going to be a big challenge for me to stay focused on the task at hand while going through the 23 things class. For example, I started exploring icerocket and next thing I knew I was struggling (unsuccessfully by the way) to figure out how to set up my own RSS feed using their rss feed creation tool. Then I got sidetracked on YouTube. Then I decided to do some more blog searches on PDAs (I still don't have one...). It's all good exposure of course but doesn't make for much objective "progress."

More on tagging

I think the challenge with tagging is being consistent and remembering your thought process later when you try to find things. It's definately not a controlled universe, so it can be hard to find things later. And of course, that problem is magnified when you search the larger universe of links tagged by others. But it is still a very useful way to find things on certain kinds of topics.

Weeks 2 and 3 - Blogging, Social Tagging, and more

I am using this blog to track my progress completing the SLA 23 Things Class. I selected Blogger mainly because I already have an account. Although I previously set up some other blogs using it, I have not been very adventurous and look forward to becoming more sophisticated with it!

I already had a del.icio.us account, but hadn't really explored it as a way for FINDING information. I've been using it mainly to bookmark things that I want to be able to access from any computer. So that was something new for me.

Began 23 Things Online Course Through SLA Today

Today I began the SLA 23 Things Class. It took me a long time to find the link on the SLA site! But I'm glad to finally be getting started!
